Didier Drogba has made a bet with Thierry Henry that Arsenal will not break Chelsea’s Premier League clean sheet record this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and a rock-solid defence has bene one of the key factors behind their impressive start to the campaign.
So far this season, Arsenal have conceded just five goals in 11 Premier League games and are in with a chance of breaking Chelsea’s record which has stood firm for the last 20 years.
In the 2004-05 Premier League season under Jose Mourinho, Chelsea conceded just 15 goals on their way to winning the title.
Only three teams have gone close in the following two decades, with Chelsea conceding 22 times the following season, while Manchester United in 2007-08 and Liverpool in 2018-19 did the same.

Drogba has now put his pride on the line in a wager with Henry, who appears to be confident that Arsenal will finally break Chelsea’s record this term.
The two iconic Premier League strikers met this week and Drogba vowed to wear Henry’s Arsenal hat and shirt if the Gunners concede fewer than 15 goals this season.
‘Okay, let’s do it,’ Henry told Drogba. ‘If they [Arsenal] beat the record of Chelsea of not conceding goals, then you wear the hat.’
Drogba shook Henry’s hand and said: ‘I wear the hat, I wear the jersey, number 14.’
Speaking before Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland last Saturday, former Chelsea captain John Terry admitted he was nervous that the record could finally be broken by Arteta’s side.
‘I have to say I’m actually a little bit worried now,’ Terry said.
‘I’m looking at their fixtures on a weekly basis, seeing where they’re going to potentially concede goals but I have to say, I have to give them credit, they look very good at the moment.
‘I still think it’s going to be too much to beat our record but being honest, I’m a little nervous.’

John Terry singles out Chelsea star for praise after Wolves win: ‘Absolutely petrifying’
Former Chelsea captain John Terry hailed the performance of Alejandro Garnacho following Saturday’s 3-0 Premier League victory over Wolves.
Following a midweek Champions League setback, Enzo Maresca was desperate to get back to winning ways ahead of the international break.
After a goalless first half, the Stamford Bridge faithful could have been forgiven for thinking they were in for another frustrating afternoon against a side they were heavily fancied to beat comfortably.
Malo Gusto’s first goal for the club early in the second period broke the deadlock and from then on the result was never in question.
Garnacho has taken his time to find his feet since his summer move from Manchester United, but is increasingly looking like Chelsea’s best option on the the left-hand side of their attack.

You speak about the importance of these wins and these games before the international break and we did that.
‘Especially after dominating the first half like we did. Previously not scoring, we’d probably have gone on to lose that game after not taking our chances but we managed to do it second half with a much better performance.
‘Clean sheet, love a clean sheet, I can never get away from loving a clean sheet.’
On Garnacho’s contribution to a much-needed win,he added: ‘I also want to touch on how good Garnacho was yesterday.
‘Absolutely petrifying as a defender when you’re facing someone that quick and that direct. He gives us something the other wingers don’t as well.
‘That’s what you want to see as a Chelsea fan players like that beating players. It doesn’t always have to be with loads of skill.
‘You can knock it past people when you’re that quick and put crosses in the box and make it difficult for defenders. I’m delighted with that.’

Chelsea will return from the two week break just six points behind Arsenal with a London derby on home soil looming on the horizon.
‘Also, I spoke last week and said I was getting a little bit worried about Arsenal’s clean sheet record,’ added Terry,
‘I’m feeling a lot more comfortable this morning. It’s always the games you don’t expect and I certainly didn’t expect Sunderland to score two yesterday but I’m delighted they did.’

Shaka Hislop rules one team out of Premier League title race after Arsenal drop points
Shaka Hislop has ruled one of Arsenal’s rivals out of the Premier League title race.
The Gunners’ sensational winning run came to an end on Saturday as Mikel Arteta’s side drew 2-2 with newly-promoted Sunderland.
The league leaders were on course to seal an 11th successive win in all competitions when Bukayo Saka cancelled out Dan Ballard’s opener and Leandro Trossard put the visitors ahead.
But Brian Brobbey’s injury-time goal earned Sunderland a point and denied Arsenal an eight-point lead at the top of the table ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool on Sunday.
Despite dropping points at the Stadium of Light, Arsenal remain the clear favourites to win the Premier League and their first title since 2004.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City and defending champions Liverpool could yet mount title challenges but Hislop says the team currently in second have ‘no chance’.
Club World Cup winners Chelsea climbed to second in the Premier League on Saturday with a routine 3-0 win over managerless Wolves.
Chelsea spent big in the summer transfer window after finishing fourth last season but former Premier League goalkeeper Hislop has still ruled them out of the title race.
Asked whether he believes Chelsea can win the title this season, Hislop said on ESPN: ‘No, no chance. Should I give you a percentage? 0.5%.
‘They won’t win the league. If you offered me 1000/1 for Chelsea to win the league, I still wouldn’t take that bet right now.’
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol disagreed with Hislop’s strong take, saying: ‘You can say never. But I would be very surprised if Chelsea won the Premier League.’
Hislop added: ‘Yes you can [say Chelsea will never win the title this season]. You can.’
Arsenal boss Arteta described Sunderland’s last-minute equaliser as a ‘kick in the stomach’ but said he was still pleased with his team’s ‘very strong position’ going into the international break.

‘They make it really hard for you,’ Arteta said of Sunderland. ‘It’s is not a criticism. My feeling is that we should have won it.
‘Credit to them, it was the type of game that they wanted to throw you in and you have to handle that.
‘There are a lot of games like this in the Premier League right now. We conceded a goal in a manner we knew was one of their biggest strengths. They do that really well.
‘After that I think we reacted well. We scored the first goal, then the second and the game was dominated. But in any moment, they just need a foul or a long throw, a direct ball to create that chaos.
“You have to defend actions well. We conceded a goal and we’re really disappointed. But it wasn’t meant to be so we have to accept it.
‘We’re in a very strong position for the reasons I said. Clean sheets, seven top players up front injured so we haven’t been able to rotate as much.
‘We’ve had some very tough games as well. Let’s get some players back and go again.’

Mauricio Pochettino praises two Chelsea signings and makes Enzo Maresca prediction
Mauricio Pochettino has credited two of Chelsea’s biggest signings for playing a major role in the team’s improvement under Enzo Maresca.
The experienced Argentine coach spent one turbulent season at the Stamford Bridge helm during which his side were infamously billed as ‘billion-pound bottle jobs’ following their Carabao Cup final defeat against aseverely weakened and injury-hit Liverpool.
Despite his short-lived stint, Pochettino spent over £400million with a quarter of that budget invested in Chelsea’s record signing Moises Caicdeo.
With fellow £100m recruit Enzo Fernandez having been recruited during Graham Potter’s ill-fated reign the Blues were able to boast the most expensive central midfield partnership ever assembled.
Initially, however, the pair, like many of the young players Chelsea have recruited since the Clearlake takeover, struggled to live up to their price tags.

Following lengthy settling in periods, both are now thriving under Maresca and forming a highly effective partnership in Chelsea’s engine room.
Pochettino believes both players, and their manager, are benefiting from a more settled environment while the extra experience they now have under their belts is proving invaluable.
Asked the sudden nature of his Chelsea departure, Pochettino told talkSPORT: ‘We both decided to split. I think my first season was about to stop a little bit.
‘The way that Chelsea was going down, it was difficult to stop this negative dynamic, if you remember.
‘I don’t know, it was six months, eight months with one win at Stamford Bridge.
‘The plan was to build with new players with players that had no experience in the Premier League.
‘And then players that need to adapt like Caicedo or Enzo that were very young with too much responsibility from the first season. I think after they got experience they started to show their quality.

‘They are performing very well now.’
Asked whether Chelsea are now primed to compete for major honours, Pochettino added: ‘Yes, I think Chelsea is in a different project than it was in the past and I wish all the best. I spent a very good time there.
‘I keep a very good relationship with the people, with players there. We split, but I think the relationship there is good.
‘I wish all the best and, and of course, a lot of young young players with amazing talent for sure. Sometimes there’s ups and downs, but I think they achieved very good things last season.
‘They are involved in the Champions League and of course in the Premier League close to the top four.
‘I think for sure they are going to.’
