Donald Trump has spoken publicly for the first time since rumours began swirling about his health.
The president used the highly anticipated press conference to announce a new billion dollar project for military operations in space.
His plan is for a new US Space Command Headquarters to be built in the city of Huntsville, Alabama, which will be nicknamed ‘Rocket City’.
Trump also used the media question and answer session to slap down the ‘fake news’ conspiracies about his death.

Donald Trump arrived 40 minutes late to the press conference before confirming his intention to relocate the Space Command HQ from Colorado to Huntsville.
He told reporters: ‘We were losing the race in space very badly to China and to Russia, and now we’re far and away number one in space and re-establish Space Force with a mission to protect American space assets and detect any threat to our homeland.’
‘This will result in more than 30,000 Alabama jobs, and probably much more than that.
‘Most importantly, this decision will help America defend and dominate the high frontier, as they call it.’
The Space Command, established by Trump in his first term, is responsible for military operations beyond Earth’s atmosphere and defending U.S. satellites from potential threats.

Trump also used the press conference to clear up the ‘crazy’ rumours about his health over the weekend.
He told reporters he had heard about the speculation, which he called ‘fake news’.
He added: ‘Last week I did numerous news conferences, all successful.
‘I did not do any for two days, and they say there must be something wrong with him.
‘Biden wouldn’t do them for months, you wouldn’t see him, and no one ever said there must be something wrong with him.
He went on: ‘I was very active over the weekend.’

Fact check: Does Trump have ‘spies in Greenland’?

Summoning the top US diplomat in Denmark is a polite way of saying, ‘Oi, stop looking into our backyard.’
This is what has happened after the Danish national broadcaster reported that three people linked to Donald Trump are are busy stirring the political pot in Greenland.
Citing government and security sources, the broadcaster, DR, said the trio had been compiling names of Greenlandic citizens who backed America’s Arctic daydream – and who might be willing to join a movement to declare independence.
The US president has long had plans to take over the island, and has not ruled out military action to achieve it.
Accusations of ‘covert influence operations’ have already been brushed off by Washington – but in Copenhagen the evidence seems to be piling up.
Are there US ‘spies’ in Greenland?
Now, of course, interpretations of ‘spying’ differ.
The US State Department insists the three Americans are ‘private citizens,’ adding that it does not control or direct their actions.

A White House official also did not confirm an ‘influence campaign’ as per Denmark’s accusations.
Adding fuel to the fire, it said: ‘We think the Danes need to calm down.’
Danish foreign minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen stressed that any attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the Kingdom [of Denmark] will of course be unacceptable’.
This comes as the country’s intelligence warned that Greenland was being targeted by ‘various kinds of influence campaigns’.
Neither the Danish foreign ministry nor DR disclosed the identities of the Americans flagged in the intelligence reports.

Why has Denmark summoned the US envoy?
As soon as the story broke, Rasmussen summoned the he deputy chief of mission in Copenhagen, Mark Stroh,
A US state department spokesperson confirmed this, adding that he had had a ‘productive conversation’ that ‘reaffirmed the strong ties’ between Greenland, Denmark and the US.
Summoning the Chargé d’Affaires of a country is an age-old diplomatic tool – and is not to be underestimated.
Danish officials have been concerned for months about public efforts by Trump allies to stear up support for Greenland splitting off from Denmark.

What has Trump said about Greenland?
Trump first proposed purchasing Greenland in 2019, calling it ‘essentially… a large real estate deal’ and adding ‘strategically it’s interesting’.
The Republican has since reiterated his desire for to acquire Greenland and the Panama Canal, calling both critical to American national security.
Days before entering the White House for his second term, he resurrected his call from his first presidency to buy the island.
He wrote on his Truth Social platform of the island: ‘We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!’
Both Denmark and Greenland have stressed that the island is not for sale and condemned reports of the US gathering intelligence there.

Why did Donald Trump have a strange patch on his hand?

For a man who made Joe Biden’s health a campaign theme, Donald Trump is suddenly facing his own round of awkward questions.
The US president appeared this week with a questionable smudge on his right hand, believed to be make-up hiding a large bruise.
The incident happened as the 79-year-old visited an exhibit at the People’s House museum in Washington DC.
Later in the day, during a World Cup event in the Oval Office, Trump kept his left hand folded over his right, but the layer of makeup was visible when he stood up.
This comes after the Republican was pictured with severely swollen ankles earlier this month – not exactly the vision of vigour from a man who insists he is in ‘excellent’ shape.
Both incidents have only fueled speculation about Trump’s health and how far his team will go to protect his image.
True to form, the White House has brushed off concerns about his health.
Press secretary Karoline Leavitt appeared to brush off concerns, reiterating the stance that bruising is caused by handshakes.

‘The president is a man of the people and meets more Americans, shaking hands daily, than any other president in history,’ she said.
‘His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day.’
Last month, the White House disclosed that the president was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a benign condition which is quite common in people aged over 70.
It has symptoms such as increased leg pain, skin issues, swelling and bloated ankles.

Leavitt said his condition was not causing him discomfort, but did not provide treatment details.
This is not the first time that the press secretary has used ‘shaking hands daily’ as an excuse for large bruises on Trump’s hands.
In February, his right hand again seemed bruised during his meeting with French president Emmanuel Macron, prompting speculation online over his health.
But just weeks later, the White House doctor, Captain Sean Barbabella, said that Trump is in ‘excellent cognitive and physical health’.

Dr Barbabella wrote in a memo: ‘President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.’
Now 79, Trump would be older than Biden at the end of his second term – making him the oldest US president.
The oldest president to take office for the first time was Joe Biden in 2021, at 78 years and two months – only five months younger than Trump.

Vladimir Putin has made the startling claim that the West is responsible for the conflict in Ukraine.
The Russian dictator said he was doing all he could to stop the war despite continuing to launch missile and drone strikes on civilians.
He also claimed Western people were friendly to him and Russia.
His comments came during a visit to secret closed nuclear city Sarov – the birthplace of the Soviet atomic bomb – on Friday.
Putin said: ‘Of course, there is propaganda working there [in the West], brainwashing people and claiming that we started the war.

The West and Kyiv were ‘forgetting that it was they [Ukraine] who started it in 2014 when they used tanks and aviation against the peaceful population of Donbas.
‘That is when the war began, and we are doing everything to stop it.’

It comes a week after Putin met with US president Donald Trump to trash out peace talks in Alaska.
Peace talks have stalled but it raised the hopes of Putin and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky meeting face-to-face for the first time since 2019.
In another incredible claim, Putin himself stopped military commanders from taking out Zelensky last year, according to one of his closest allies.
Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko, who once described the Russian leader as his ‘elder brother’, says Putin forbade plans to strike the headquarters of the Ukrainian presidency in Bankova area of Kyiv.
It came after the Russian doomsday missile system Oreshnik was tested without live warheads in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro in November 2024.
It sparked the plot to target Zelensky’s bunker and the heart of the government, according to Lukashenko, but Putin had other ideas.
He said: ‘After they struck with the Oreshnik, the Ukrainians realised: trouble’.
‘They can also hit Bankova. Insider information for you. Somone in Russia had such plans – (I will not name them).
‘Putin said: “Under no circumstances”.
‘They were ready to strike.
‘If they had fired the Oreshnik at the centres of decision-making, there would have been nothing left there’.
