EuroMillions jackpot rolls over to £172,000,000 after no one gets lucky

The results are in for the latest Euromillions jackpot and a life-changing £172 million is up for grabs.
Friday night’s National Lottery EuroMillions winning numbers are: 2, 12, 19, 34, 44. The lucky stars are: 6, 10.
Unfortunately no one managed to match all seven numbers.
But not everyone leaves emptyhanded, as three people were able to match five numbers and one lucky star, winning £124,791.30 each.
Another five players matched five numbers, each winning £8,333.00.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at National Lottery operator Allwyn, called Friday’s jackpot ‘jaw-dropping’.
He said: ‘A single UK winner of this jaw-dropping prize would make National Lottery history, coming in as the fourth biggest National Lottery winner of all time.

‘And it would also be the 20th win of over £100m since The National Lottery began.’
To win the estimated jackpot in a EuroMillions game, a player must match all five numbers plus the two lucky stars.
But some money can still be won without matching all the numbers.
If no one nets the EuroMillions jackpot, the money is also rolled over to the next draw.
Odds of winning EuroMillions
The odds of scoring a prize in EuroMillions are 13 to one.
They’re this large because there are 13 prize tiers – the odds of winning the EuroMillions jackpot are 1 in 139,838,160, according to Euro-Millions.
From always choosing the same numbers to only buying tickets in a shop rather than online, lots of players have their superstitions about how to increase their luck.
Expert reveals how you could win the EuroMillions
Or more accurately, an expert from the National Lottery has revealed what doesn’t help you to win the jackpot.
The Midlands is the luckiest region in the UK, as more than 1,000 people have become millionaires there since the National Lottery was launched in 1994.
But hold your horses if you’re considering packing your bags and moving, because as only about 5% of big winners share their news, their locations don’t provide the full picture.
Here are some other suspicions which don’t impact your chances of winning:
Using the same set of ‘lucky’ numbers every time
Buying a ticket in a shop rather than online
Choosing ‘overdue’ numbers
Only playing on a certain day
How many other people have bought tickets
Only playing when there’s a lower jackpot
But experts at the National Lottery have warned that most of these methods don’t increase your chances.
There’s only one way to be in with a chance at winning, and that’s simply by buying a ticket.
But while many people may think that winning a large sum of money may be a blessing, it can also be a curse.
Studies in the US have found that people are more likely to declare bankruptcy within three to five years compared to the average citizen.
The pressure may also cause somebody to spiral into depression and lead to alcohol and drug abuse.

The shop where the winning £208 million EuroMillions was sold has finally been revealed.
Clifford’s Centra in Shandon Street, in Cork City, Ireland, sold the ticket to the lucky winner who has bagged the largest lottery jackpot.
The Irish National Lottery has released the phone call where the shop found out they had sold the winning ticket – and will receive £25,000 themselves.
The owner said down the phone: ‘This is a wind up is it? You’re joking me.’
Joking down the phone, he added: ‘That’s great news, I’m just gutted it wasn’t me who bought it.’

The winner, who has not yet been revealed, has made contact with the National Lottery.
This will be Ireland’s 18th winner of the EuroMillions jackpot and its largest ever win.
The National Lottery said yesterday: ‘A Cork retail store has made history, as the National Lottery officially confirms that the winning ticket for Tuesday’s (17th June) extraordinary €250 million EuroMillions jackpot was purchased in-store in the Rebel County.’
Former National Lotto winner Paddy Kehoe offered advice to this jackpot’s winner, telling whoever they are ‘to get it into their account as quick as they can’.
He told Metro: ‘I nearly took the National Lottery to court after they wouldn’t hand over the money quick enough.
‘They need to get on it and get it in their accounts.
‘You never know what’s going to happen, your house could burn down tomorrow so they need to sort it.’
