Ruben Amorim made a point of highlighting Rasmus Hojlund’s first goal for Napoli when asked about Marcus Rashford’s double for Barcelona in the Champions League this week.

Rashford left United to join Barcelona on loan in the summer transfer window and finally got off the mark for the Spanish champions as his two goals helped secure a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St James Park.

Hojlund, meanwhile, failed to find the net for Napoli in the Champions League on Thursday night as Antonio Conte’s side were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City.

The Denmark international also left United on loan and needed just 14 minutes to score his first goal for Napoli in their 3-1 win away to Fiorentina last Saturday.

When asked about Rashford’s double at St James’ Park, Amorim replied: ‘Rasmus scored, I am happy for Rasmus also.

‘It is the same thing with him guys. You are so tough on Rasmus but he scored also, so let’s notice that.’

Amorim also dismissed suggestions that United’s decision to sell Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea could backfire.

Garnacho is set to face his former club this weekend when United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday.

‘I am not concerned about that – I just want to win games,’ Amorim said.

‘I don’t care who plays for the opponent or what people are going to say in the end if a player is going to play well.

‘They are good players and they will play well if things happen. I am just focusing on the game and my players – that is my only concern.’
