At least one person has been killed after a training fighter jet crashed in a school campus in Bangladesh while children were in class.
Flames have engulfed the Milestone School’s Uttara campus, in the capital city of Dhaka, where the plane reportedly smashed into the canteen.
One body has been pulled out from the inferno – while emergency services are still tackling the flames – but the number of victims is expected to rise.
More than 50 people, including children and adults, have been hospitalised with burns, a doctor at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery told reporters.
Footage circulating online shows the plane plunging into a building in the campus area.
Another video of the aftermath shows the building entirely collapses, with the fire still raging, while plumes of thick, black smoke is pouring into the sky.
Children are seen running away from the scene of the crash, while others search for survivors under the rubble.
The fire service said many people were injured in the incident, but the exact number is not yet confirmed as rescue operations are still ongoing.

Terrified parents and relatives rushed to the site as rescuers, using tri-cycle rickshaws or whatever was available, transported the injured.
Rafiqa Taha, a student at the school who was not present at the time of the crash, told AP by phone that Milestone School, with some 2,000 students, runs classes from elementary to twelfth grade.
She said that some students had been taking tests while others attended regular classes.
‘I was terrified watching videos on TV,’ said the 16-year-old student. ‘My God! It’s my school.’
‘Bangladesh Air Force’s F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed in Uttara. The aircraft took off at 1.06pm (7.06am GMT),’ the military said in a statement.
